In a real elk antler chandelier, you can still see the ridges and grooves, which mark the path of the veins where blood flowed throughout the antlers while they were growing. Hardened antler is made of phosphorous, calcium, and about 50-percent water. A bull elk will grow unbranched and slim antlers by his second year, and on the third, he grows antlers with tines branching from the beam.
